Jewellery designer Merle O'Grady trained in Fashion Design in Limerick School of Art & Design before relocating to London in 2004 to study Accessory Design at the world-renowned Cordwainers College. Her journey into jewellery design began by chance, when she stumbled across a bucket of 18th Century chandelier crystal in a dark corner of an architectural salvage yard and couldn't resist creating pieces with the antique crystals.
From then on Merle’s magpie-like tendencies, along with an obsession with futuristic styling and industrial materials, led to the creation of her eponymous jewellery line, launching for Spring Summer 2010 at London Fashion Week.
Merle's edgy yet feminine designs feature regularly in numerous publications including Vogue, Elle, Harper's Bazaar, InStyle and Grazia and she is very grateful to count Beyonce, Kylie, Cheryl Cole, Florence Welch, Ellie Goulding, Pixie Lott, Leona Lewis and Kelly Rowland amongst the fans of her range.
Newly relocated to her hometown of Dublin, Ireland, every Merle O'Grady piece is painstakingly soldered & set with Swarovski Elements by hand with love and care in her studio. Her ethos is to create directional fashion accessories while maintaining the handcrafted process of traditional jewellery. Merle oversees and is involved in the production of every single piece.
